Arriving Vietnam..

Took the Cebu Pacific flight, and we arrived Ho Chi Minh at 12:15 AM. In the airport, we already exchanged a few of our USDs. 1 USD = 20800 VND, so $50 already made us an instant millionaire. :)

We have pre-arranged a taxi pickup from the hotel, and from the airport it took about 15-20mins before we reached the backpackers area along Pham Ngu Lao. We booked our stay with Nguyen Khang guesthouse. Anyone who will be booking a guesthouse in the backpackers area should not expect a hotel-like area or environment. Rather, you will find your guesthouse in an alley, standing alongside several other cheap guesthouses.

In this area, accommodations are affordable. I had a nice stay and experience at Nguyen Khang, and I definitely recommend this place to others who plan to visit Saigon. The rooms were clean and spacious enough. While rates are cheap, service did not get compromised. I was impressed by how Chi (if i remember the NK front desk guy's name right) entertained and served us, and they even exert extra effort to please their guests.

After we have settled in our room, we went out to grab dinner. Chi directed us to a nearby food house where they serve Pho. This store is open 24 hours, and they serve very good Pho. :)

It's already about 2AM when we finished dinner so we decided to head back to the guesthouse and get rest, as we're scheduled for 8AM pick-up for our Cu Chi tunnel tour.
